JOB SUMMARY: THE SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY, DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITY AT THE FACILITY DEPARTMENT AND POSITION LEVELS INCLUDING KNOWLEDGE AND PRACTICE OF THE CLINICAL/TECHNICAL SKILLS NECESSARY TO THE POSITION CONSISTENT WITH THE NURSE PRACTICE ACT. NURSING JOB DUTIES ARE TO MEET THE NURSE PRACTICE ACT, TITLE 22, JOINT COMMISSION, AND THE PLAN FOR PROVISION OF NURSING CARE AND THE PLAN FOR PROVISION OF CARE TO PATIENTS, AND OTHER REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS.ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:1. Provides and documents direct and indirect patient care services that ensures the safety, comfort, personal hygiene, and protection of patients. Provides care and patient education on disease prevention and restorative measures.2. Provides direct and indirect patient care services, including, but not limited to, the administration of medications and therapeutic agents necessary to implement the treatment, disease prevention, or rehabilitative plan of care. -3. Performs skin tests, immunizations, phlebotomy and the initiation of peripheral venous access.4. Observes signs and symptoms of illness, reactions to medications/treatments, general behavior, and/or general physical condition. Assesses the signs, symptoms, reactions, behaviors, or general appearance to determine normal versus abnormal characteristics. Plans and implements care based on observations. Implements appropriate reporting, referrals and care in accordance with standardized procedures. Initiates emergency procedures when indicated.5. Provides care to special patient populations and patients with diverse cultural backgrounds. Identifies patient's readiness for learning and ability to follow directions/instructions and give consent. -6. Identifies and assesses patient safety concerns with respect to age and developmental considerations. Intervenes to provide a safe environment and evaluates effectiveness of intervention for patients.LEADERSHIP & TEAMWORK:1. Demonstrates leadership and/or actively participates and supports one or more of the following activities areas: Charge Nurse, Shared Governance - Chair, MD / RN Collaborative - Chair, Preceptor, Mentor, TCAB, Committee, Project, Participation in community service activities or other related.LEADERSHIP & TEAMWORK continued:2. Provides assistance to co-workers, new staff, temporary staff and students; evaluatesand documents the orientation process.3. When assigned charge nurse responsibility, coordinates unit activity throughout -the shift, initiates chain of command as appropriate.4. Participates in at least 50% of unit meetings and provides constructive input to assist -in unit direction. -5. Delegates and assigns tasks to licensed and unlicensed health care workers within -the scope of their job responsibilities. -SPECIALITY SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES/COMPETENCIES:2. Life support training: Clinic nurse will Perform emergency care as indicated per CSMC policy; including BLS and ACLS guidelines. Clinic nurse will maintain BLS/ACLS (all nurses) and PALS (CHP nurses) certification and skills per national guidelines.3. Clinic nurse can demonstrate proficiency in the steps required to obtain a 12-lead electrocardiogram and/or rhythm strip. -4. Clinic nurse will implement educational information, materials, and programs for discharge planning and teaching of health care consumers.5. Telehealth/triage assessment: Clinic nurse will collect pertinent patient information to assess and guide patient to the appropriate level of care. Educational Requirements:- California State RN License required- BSN highly preferredLicenses:- BCLS and ACLS certified- Specialty Certification PreferredExperience:- Meets specialty specific clinical competencies for assigned clinical nurse level and area.- Working knowledge of applicable Standards of Practice.- Demonstrates a commitment to customer service and an ability to meet the needs and expectations of patients and health care colleagues. -- Full command (verbal and written) of the English language.- Meets clinical criteria and protocol for Clinical Nurse assigned level.- Previous experience in arrhythmia detection and identification. -- Previous experience in Adult Fitness programs. Prior experience in designing exercise prescriptions. -- Computer literacy (i.e., Familiar with basic computer functions related to input and retrieval of data).Physical Demands:The physical ability and perceptive acuity to satisfactorily perform all direct and indirect patient care functions.
