training. 0800–1600, Monday through Friday Guaranteed hours: 40
hours/week (8 hours/day) Length of Assignment (weeks): 8 Required:
- Minimum two (2) years of pediatric inpatient experience with
direct involvement with clinical performance improvement and/or
clinical risk management. Experience with facilitating a root cause
analysis. - Registered Nurse (RN) licensed in California. -
Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. Required Skills: Strong
written and verbal communication skills in English with the ability
to establish and maintain effective professional and interpersonal
relationships with all levels of the organization. Knowledge and
experience with meeting the Joint Commission Standards. Ability to
problem solve, analyze situations, think critically, and provide
constructive feedback. Ability to set goals and judge results in
accordance with the highest standards; care with sensitivity and
respect; advance risk management through the development of new
ideas or refined processes; promote teamwork to achieve CHOC’s
mission; and understand and exceed customer expectations. Ability
to participate constructively and harmoniously with senior
management, physicians, and associates in devising, implementing
and evaluating the organization’s patient safety opportunities.
Demonstrates excellent facilitation and consultation skills.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Preferred: - Master of Science Degree in Nursing or related
healthcare field is preferred and/or designation as a Certified -
Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM) or Certified
Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) Specialized Skills - Five
(5) or more years of clinical pediatric experience with leadership
in clinical performance improvement and/or education, -
Demonstrated competency with Excel and Visio. Bilingual in English
and Spanish. - Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management
(CPHRM) or Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ). Job
Duties: 2. Ensures timely event submission into the Patient Safety
Organization (PSO) database. 3. Supports claims management by
scheduling staff interviews as assigned and obtaining required
documents for defense counsel. 4. Participates in Grievance and
Safe Work Intervention Team Meetings as risk management
representative as assigned. 1. Supports Risk Manager in risk
reduction and promotion of patient safety initiatives 1.1 Actively
participates in performance improvement, patient safety, and risk
reduction activities to include facilitation of performance
improvement teams, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Apparent Cause
Analysis (ACA), or Failure Mode Effects and Analysis (FMEA) as
assigned. Functions as additional risk management educational
resource for associates and physicians. 1.2 Works as a member of
the RCA Team conducting interviews and/or scheduling interviews for
an RCA or ACA. 1.3 Creates flow diagrams and/or timelines in
preparation for an RCA, ACA or FMEA. 1.4 Regularly reviews and
conducts follow up with managers on outstanding Safety Reports
and/or ACA completion for closure. 1.5 Other duties as assigned.
