What you?ll do Core Responsibilities: * Responsible for manufacturing process improvement and implementation to reduce product defects and/or improve process efficiency * Technical problem solving for processing anomalies or optical defects in acrylic and/or glass laminated assemblies * Troubleshooting and refinement of manufacturing processes * Support equipment upgrades and maintenance requirements * Create equipment/facility maintenance procedures * Transition new products from development to serial production * Identify non-conformance causes and implement robust corrective actions * Coordinate process improvement, cost reduction and/or defect reduction projects. * Planning, design, and implementation of tooling to support manufacturing processes * Document work instructions for operators and train personnel * Disposition non-conforming material * Generate or revise routers and bill of materials * Develop and foster strong internal relationships throughout the organization to identify and resolve manufacturing and quality issues * Provide a smooth interchange of ideas and information between supervisor, engineers, co-workers, and customers * Support company values including ethical conduct and integrity in all actions * Promote a continuous improvement culture About you Required Qualifications: * Bachelor?s degree (or higher) in Chemistry (polymers), Chemical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering. Chemical engineering is preferred. * 3+ years? experience in an engineering (or equivalent) role, experience supporting serial production programs preferred * Experience with polymer processes especially coating. * Ability to organize and implement multiple concurrent tasks Preferred Qualifications: * Material properties and material processing of acrylics or polymers * Excellent communications skills * Computer skills including: Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Minitab (preferred), Visual Basic (preferred) * Experience with micrographic and/or chemical analysis of defects in acrylics (preferred) or polymers * Structured problem solving tools (PFMEA, DOE, 5-why, etc.) * Experience with evaporation or sputtering vacuum deposition processes. * Automation of processing equipment * Experience in statistical analysis * Experience in Six Sigma principles * Experience with clean room contamination controls and protocols per ISO 14644 Class 5. * Knowledge of AS9100 and/or FAA requirements Key Responsibilities Not Specified About Us GKN is a global engineering business.
