For Victorian based employees, the compliance date is 26 November 2021.All other global Boeing locations do not have a vaccination requirement at this time.The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) team is seeking a Lead Subsystems and Payload Integration Design Engineer located in Seal Beach, CA or Kennedy Space Center, FL. The selected candidate will be responsible for direct a team in the development, documentation and integration of complex mechanical, fluid and thermal systems including the detailed design for new and modified spacecraft installations.- The candidate will work under minimal direction, as well as train and review the work of others.Position Responsibilities Include:

  • Lead the design integration of new payloads and flight experiments
  • Lead multi-discipline teams to develop mechanical subsystem and payload integration product definition including layouts, detail part definition, and installation datasets
  • Define common processes, guides and standards, and implement their use across the team
  • Review the work of team members to ensure technical excellence and first time quality
  • Lead trade studies to identify and evaluate multiple potential design and build options
  • Support part fabrication and procurement, and on-vehicle installation and test
  • Manage suppliers to define, develop and qualify mechanical, thermal and propulsion system components
  • Develop engineering dispositions to hardware non-conformances and anomalies
  • Provide design integration leadership for proposal preparation and new business development efforts
  • Lead team in the definition of project plans and provide regular progress updates
  • Track costs and use data to develop and maintain cost estimating relationships
  • Travel up to 20% of the time will be possible during the program lifecycle to support the engineering and production activities at ESG facilities, as well as test facilities and suppliers in various statesThis position is expected to be 100% onsite.- The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship as a condition of employment. An interim and/or final U.S. Top Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
    • Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry.
    • 10+ years of experience in a Mechanical Engineering role.
    • 5+ years of experience creating 3D part geometry, drawings and assemblies using CAD based tools.
    • 3+ years of experience leading a design engineering team.Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
      • 5+ years of experience with Teamcenter product data management system.Typical Education/Experience:Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.Drug Free Workplace:Boeing-is a Drug Free Workplace where post offer applicants and employees are subject to testing for marijuana, cocaine, opioids, amphetamines, PCP, and alcohol when criteria is met as outlined in our policies.Shift:This position is for 1st shift.NASA Access:This position requires the ability to obtain access to a National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) facility.
