Job Description:

A construction services company in California is currently seeking an experienced Accountant for a promising Senior-level position with their growing staff. In this role, the Senior Accountant will be primarily responsible for overseeing the monthly close process; accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and weekly & monthly reporting. -

Responsibilities:

The Senior Accountant will:

• 
  
• Develop accurate and timely work and to facilitate monthly reporting to Executive Management and the Board
  
• Maintain accurate records of customer accounts and update as necessary
  
• Oversee bi-weekly payroll processing
  
• Review and record journal entries required to reflect monthly activity
  
• Prepare documentation supporting the monthly close process and month-end balances
  
• Review monthly accounting close process including analytical review of the monthly operating results to ensure accurate accounting records are maintained
  
• Maintain fixed asset records to coordinate quarterly inventory of fixed assets with the Information Technology Department
  
• Collaborate with internal teams to resolve billing discrepancies and ensure timely payment
  
• Implement, document, and maintain adequate and effective internal controls
  
• Assist with acquisition activities, including developing financial models, due diligence reviews and integration activities
  
• Provide excellent customer service by responding to inquiries and resolving issues in a timely payment manner
  
• Perform credit analysis to determine creditworthiness of customers
  
• Participate in a wide variety of special projects and develop ad hoc reports as requested
  
  Qualifications:
  
  
  • 
    
  • 7+ years of experience in the Accounting & Finance sector
    
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and/or Finance
    
  • Experience managing accountants and the Accounting and Finance process
    
  • Construction experience with a preference given to highway safety construction.
    
  • Experience with Union payroll and completing certified payroll
    
  • Progress and Retention billing experience
    
  • Good GAAP and Financial Reporting technical skills
    
  • Microsoft Office proficient
    
  • Solid analytical, mathematical, and research skills
    
  • Great interpersonal skills
    
  • Excellent communication skills (Written and verbal)
    
  • Strong attention to detail
    
  • Highly organized
    
    Desired Skills:

    • CPA or parts passed
      
    • Experience in ERP or Accounting software implementation
